Question of the Day: Why do people make empty promises?
I had booked a week off for vacation at the end of November and was hoping to relax before crunch time during the Christmas holidays. Initially, the plan was to go on vacation with my grandparents. But due to the H1N1 it’s probably better they don’t make any travels, they’re old it may be too risky.
So, I approached my friend and we decided to go on vacation together instead. After a week of trying to figure out where to go we decided on a final decision of Vegas. I went ahead and made all the reservations. Two days later, my friend decides to change plans on me due to some work that came up in the middle of the week that he needed to deal with. So I said ok that’s fine, we’ll just cut the trip short instead of 1 week we’ll just go for 3 days. I was pretty nice about it and was fine with changing things around. He even reassured me that he is committed and he was sorry that I needed to accommodate.
Once again, I went and changed all my reservations and rearranged everything. Another 2 days go by, he tells me he can’t do it because his patio shack came in ready for pick up and it will cost him too much so he shouldn’t leave the country. Do you even need patio furniture during the winter time? I don’t think so. Lies.
At this point, I am just angry. I always get taken advantage of in so many ways.
My theory: Some people are just all talk.
